General Anesthesia
What is General Anesthesia?
General anesthesia is recommended during lengthy procedures such as wisdom teeth removal or jaw surgery procedures. It is not commonly used for traditional pediatric dentistry. This method can be used in-office or in a hospital setting when surgery is performed. General anesthesia allows your child to be completely comfortable while receiving necessary treatment.
The Procedure
A certified anesthesiologist will work alongside your child’s dentist when general anesthesia is administered. The anesthesiologist monitors your child during the entire visit to ensure their safety and track the dosage of anesthesia given. Anesthesia will consistently be given throughout your child’s appointment to ensure their comfort throughout the procedure. Your child will sleep through the entire procedure and will have no memory of any treatment.
